Thrones of Rust

by Kaon

supported by
Daniel Brown

Daniel Brown The darker and blacker of most recent albums of this theme that I've listened to. Explorative and crushing; a very interesting and enjoyable listening experience indeed. Favorite track: Illumined Rending.

Ippocalyptica I must thank my esteemed associates - YomaBarr, Metallurgical Fire, and bcb723 - for ensuring that Thrones of Rust appeared in my feed, otherwise I would have missed this unusual, highly-intriguing, and evidently not well known work by Kaon. This does not sound anything like Darkspace, Imperceptum, or other “cosmic / space” black metal bands, but this is nonetheless alienating and horrifying (in the Lovecraftian sense). These riffs, importantly, also hit HARD. Give us more, Kaon!
Metallurgical Fire

Metallurgical Fire You have to hear this. If you’re into black metal at all this is one of those albums you’ll keep coming back to. It blew my mind.
YomaBarr

YomaBarr I'll be frank - I passed this up 10.000 times because of "cosmic" and "progressive", none of which I care too much for (and none of which this really turned out to be tbh).
But.
I'd just listened to my lovely, lovely PotRG's Bathed in Ash and was looking around for something to rinse my ears with when this showed up in my feed, so what the hell, and holy ghosts, how this chimed in after that.
End of story.

bcb723 A cosmic trip completely of your own imagination. For me throughout this album, I kept imagining being trapped in a large, mirrored room and no matter how close I got to finding the way out, I could not leave. My head definitely wandered away from me on these four mind-bending tracks. Pick this one up if you want to enter the atmospheric metal space out. Favorite track: Ascension.
